MS Updates and Announcements for Mar 23 to 27
The Spring PTCs are next week. We’ve added a FOCUS article on tips to prepare for a successful meeting.
As we wrap up the month of March, we provide a final reflection on faithfulness. As we’ve discussed this month, the virtue of “Faithfulness” has many aspects. One aspect that many students benefit from developing is grit. “Grit” is defined as, “firmness of mind or spirit; unyielding courage in the face of hardship or danger.” The Bible is filled with people that showed grit, such as Moses, Joseph, Daniel, Job, Esther, Ruth, and Peter and Paul (Saul). Grit is not something people are naturally born with, but something we can develop.
It’s been over 15 years since Dr. Angela Duckworth first spoke about grit at TEDx and over a decade since Dr. Carol Dweck introduced “Growth Mindset”. In “5+ Ways to Develop a Growth Mindset Using Grit & Resilience”, featured on Positive Psychology, explains these concepts and teaches us how we can teach our children (and ourselves) how to develop stronger grit and a growth mindset.
This YouthTEDx on “A Kid’s Guide to Growth Mindset and Grit” is a great video to watch with your children, to help them see and hear from another child. We hope you enjoy it. Have a wonderful weekend.
The Virtue of the Month for March is Faithfulness.
