Adulting 101: Preparing Seniors for College Life

Adulting 101: Preparing Seniors for College Life
Concordia Shanghai

Our seniors will be heading off to college in just a few months! Here at Concordia, our dedicated teachers and counselors support the students not only in their choices for university, but also their next path after Concordia. During the Grade 12 senior Advisory SEL sessions this spring, the senior advisory teachers have been conducting a seminar series called Adulting 101 "Transitioning to College."

The four topics of the sessions include:

"Personal Finance" by Mr. Steven Sgourdos;

"Simple Meal Prep" by Mr. Erik Paulson/Ms. Doris Zhao;

"Building a Support System" by Mr. Sam King;

"Tips for Organizing Your Life in College" by Ms. Kristina Erny.

These are specifically designed to help our Concordia students transition to a more independent life in college and prepare for success and thriving in the coming years.

Each Grade 12 advisory is rotating through all four sessions in the coming month.

Students enjoyed the advisory teachers facilitating conversations and activities to help them reflect on the tools they will need to successfully transition to life as young adults. Grade 12 parents also received a more detailed communication about these sessions with follow up questions that they can use to facilitate further conversations on these topics.
