Beijing MUN: Concordia Students Shine

A group of dedicated Concordia Model United Nations (MUN) students(Top left to right: Joy Fan, Lucia Sostak; Middle: Roland Chu, Nico Wang; Bottom: Sparrow Yeh, Kathie Lee, Rayna Zhang, and Christine Kim) recently traveled to Beijing to participate in the prestigious Beijing International Model United Nations (BEIMUN) conference. Held annually, BEIMUN is one of Asia’s most renowned MUN events, drawing talented students from across the globe to debate pressing global issues and craft innovative solutions.
Concordia's delegation demonstrated exceptional skill, preparation, and diplomacy throughout the conference. Representing various countries and tackling topics such as climate change, global health, and security, the students showcased their ability to think critically and collaborate effectively in a multicultural setting. Among the delegation's achievements, Sparrow stood out with her outstanding performance, earning an Honorable Mention for her contributions to the committee, reflecting her eloquence, leadership, and depth of knowledge during rigorous debates.
The BEIMUN experience offered Concordia students invaluable opportunities to hone their public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking skills while networking with peers from diverse backgrounds. It also highlighted the school’s commitment to fostering global awareness and civic responsibility among its students. Concordia’s participation in BEIMUN not only celebrated our students' commitment to excellence but also the deep desire for all our students to seek hope in a nuanced and often difficult world. It was a wonderful experience had by all.
