MS Updates and Announcements for Jan 24-30

Semester 2 has started off well and we have welcomed 12 new students. We greatly appreciate all the parents that have welcomed the new families into our community. You have all helped make Middle School stronger and more in demand in Shanghai.  

We are in the middle of a very cold period in Shanghai. Please help us by checking your child’s uniform before they leave for school, as we’ve had some students still arriving in PE shorts. Also, please help support us by reminding your child that they are not allowed outside for lunch or afternoon recess if they do not wear a coat or sweatshirt/hoodie. We need everyone to stay warm and healthy. 

In the 2007 movie, “Evan Almighty”, there was a strong message about the importance of “acts of random kindness” in our communities. The Acts of Random Kindness Foundation has great resources and recommendations for us on how we can show more kindness at school, home, and work. We hope that you find time to review this website with your child and discuss how you can bring more kindness into your lives and community. 

The Virtue of the Month for January is Kindness.

  • Thursday, February 12 – Chinese New Year celebration, 1:15-3:25 p.m., PC Gym and PC Commons 

  • Thursday, February 12 – Theme Dress Day - “Colors of Kindness” (green, yellow, pink) 

  • Friday, February 13-Sunday, February 22 – Chinese New Year holiday break (no school) 

  • Friday, February 27 – Phoenix Friday, MS Volleyball and HS Soccer, games start at 4:00 p.m.
