Week 18: Highlights
G2 Visits the Zotter Chocolate Factory
Our Grade 2 students enjoyed a delightful and educational field trip to the Zotter Chocolate Factory, where learning truly came to life! During the visit, students discovered how raw cocoa beans are transformed into chocolate, making meaningful connections to our Science unit on Properties of Matter as they observed physical changes firsthand. The children also had great fun decorating their own chocolates, adding a creative and memorable touch to the experience.
In addition, students learned more about our Social Studies unit on Fair Trade. They learned how ethical sourcing supports farmers and communities around the world. This engaging field trip helped students connect Science and Social Studies while they learned about making responsible consumer choices in a real-world and delicious way!

G4 Shares Their Journey Through History With a Wax Museum
Last week G4 brought history into the present. Here's what students had to say about this unit. "This event was a great success thanks to the detailed introductions to historical figures, innovative display methods, diverse expressive techniques, and all-round information exchange. Over the course of a month, G4 students engaged in selecting, researching, understanding, and elaborating on the figures became the core purpose of the Wax Museum activity. During the on-site exhibition, the students transformed themselves into various historical figures, making the audience feel as if they had traveled through time and walked into a chamber of history. Time changes, and the progress of human civilization has always been inseparable from great to ordinary people. Holding the Wax Museum activity allowed the students to connect with historical figures more deeply and enabled them to develop the ability to reach into various materials for project planning and presentation skills."

Health Update: Fighting the Flu
This is flu season, and we know that children can easily catch colds and coughs when they are in close contact with surfaces that are frequently touched. We want them at school every day and we want them to be well. Stay healthy and stay flu free by following these tips from our ES Nurses Emily and Mandy.

TIPS
Get a flu vaccine every year
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Stay home when you are sick.
If you have the flu, stay home
If you have a fever, stay home until you are fever-free for 48 hours without taking a fever reducer.
Cover your mouth in your arm when you cough
Sneeze in your arm or in a tissue, not your hand
Wash your hands often with soap and water
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth to stop the spread of germs
Wear a mask
Practice good hygiene and other healthy habits.
