Phoenix Fly in the Philippines and Thailand

This past weekend, our tennis team traveled from Shanghai to Manila to compete in an invitational series of match-ups against Brent International School and several other local schools and college teams. Over the two-day event we steadily found our rhythm, improving from match to match and finishing with a closely contested overall record. Beyond the results, the trip was a valuable experience. The group bonded well, learned a great deal both on and off the court, and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to travel and compete together in Manila.

Volleyball

The Varsity Volleyball teams had a fantastic showing at their mid-season tournaments, with the Girls going unbeaten to win the Championship and the Boys finishing a strong 2nd place. Competing against new opponents challenged both teams in different ways and provided valuable experience as they continue building toward APAC, which we are excited to host at Concordia in October! Across the weekend, our players grew in skill, confidence, and teamwork while experiencing a range of playing styles and competition.

Beyond the results, the trip was also about connection, team spirit, and enjoying the experience together. The teams continued the tradition of taking photos with their counterparts at Brent and brought plenty of Phoenix energy to the tournament—including some new chants and a brand-new “ROW” chant! It was great to see our boys and girls supporting one another, competing hard, and representing Concordia so positively throughout the weekend.

Cross Country

On a warm and wet morning in the countryside of the River Kwai valley in Thailand, the Concordia cross country team conquered 5.4k of muddy trails and intense terrain showing that their many weeks of hard work and preparation is bearing fruit. The squads battled a total of 12 teams from throughout Asia in the annual event hosted by ISB Bangkok.

Sophomore Miracle Z. was the top finisher for the Concordia boy’s squad with an impressive 6th place overall finish. Cross country newcomer Sally Z. was the first finisher for the girl’s phoenix runners, navigating the course in just her second official cross country competition.

MS Cross Country Fun Run
On Tuesday, September 15th, our middle school boys and girls’ cross country teams competed in their first “Fun Run” at SAS Puxi, marking an exciting start to the season. Our 6th graders took on the 3k course, while our 7th and 8th graders pushed themselves in the 4k race. The Phoenix demonstrated exceptional talent and determination, with eighth grader, Hayley W. earning the distinction of top female runner in the entire race. Additionally, Ben T. had an impressive performance as being the top runner in the 6th grade division. Many students achieved personal best times in this season opener, showcasing the hard work and dedication they’ve put into their training. We are incredibly proud of the strong efforts, perseverance, and endurance displayed by all our runners. Their competitive spirit and commitment to excellence truly embody what it means to be a Phoenix. Way to go, Concordia runners! 

Week Beginning September 21-24: No ECAs
Please be reminded that due to all of grade 5-12 students and staff being out on overnight educational trips, there will be no ECAs during the week beginning September 21.

NBA celebrity event 

Concordia will be hosting an NBA celebrity event on Thursday, October 8, with a special package available for Concordia Basketball Academy students enrolled in the National Day Camp at Concordia. Read on for more details.
