Activities and Sport Weekly Update - May 15
MS Dance Festival
On May 9, fourteen Concordia middle school dancers traveled to participate in a MS Dance Exchange hosted by SAS Pudong. This dance exchange was designed to be like a mini-APAC Dance festival and included workshops in fusion/hip hop, contemporary dance, and choreography as well as mixed school fusion groups where each of the five groups were given a piece of music and they had to devise and design a group dance. The event culminated in a showcase of solo and ensemble performances as well as each of the fusion dances. Concordia brought the most students (fourteen) and was the only school to prepare an ensemble dance for the showcase. The students loved meeting dancers from other schools, learning from the workshop teachers, and devising their own choreography in such a short time. Concordia dancers represented Concordia with their creative and collaborative spirit, their professionalism and work ethic, and their willingness to dive in and take risks as artists. This pre-APAC Dance team has met once a week as an ECA during season 4 led by high school dancer and APAC dance team member Ayana Chen, who helped facilitate the creation of the group piece and coached the students. The MS Dance team will also perform their piece in a middle school assembly in early June.

ACAMIS Track & Field
The Track & Field season concluded for HS with ACAMIS in Beijing. With 9 middle school students and 8 HS students traveling, ACAMIS track and field helps to bridge the gap from MS and HS sports, provide an opportunity for students to try new events, and for high performers to have one more attempt to break a school / ACAMIS record. After some incredible performances, Concordia students set 3 new ACAMIS records, and all 17 student athletes returned to Shanghai with at least one medal. Middle School track & field continue competition next week with SISAC at Wellington. Go Phoenix!
