1. PSO Community Meeting

This past Wednesday (Dec 11) morning, we had our second and last PSO community meeting of the semester, where we gave appreciation to the Christmas Bazaar volunteers and celebrated the strength of our Concordia community.

The meeting began with a warm welcome from our PSO co-presidents, Julia and Wenfeng, who shared their heartfelt gratitude for the ongoing support from our parent community. They reflected on the recent success of the Christmas Bazaar, emphasizing that the event was a true collaboration between parents and the school. The bazaar was a testament to the power of teamwork and generosity.

We were honored to have Dr. Semler join us to share the rich history of Concordia, followed by Dr. Mizel, who introduced the Service Initiatives of the Month. These presentations provided insights into our school’s values and upcoming opportunities for student and parent involvement.

A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to recognizing the incredible efforts of our Christmas Bazaar volunteers. Sub-committee chairs and leaders were individually acknowledged for their tireless work in making the event a huge success. Special thanks were given to Cecilia and Laura, the Bazaar Chairs, whose leadership and dedication ensured the event’s seamless execution. Appreciation gifts were distributed to volunteers as a token of our gratitude.

PSO Treasurer May’s financial report presentation highlighted the PSO’s commitment to financial transparency. Parents were also encouraged to participate in spring surveys to share feedback on various school initiatives. A reminder was shared about fostering positive communication between parents, students, and teachers to build mutual respect and a thriving community.

Finally, we want to remind everyone that every Concordia parent is a valued member of the PSO. Together, we can continue building a supportive and engaged community for our students and school. Thank you for your participation, collaboration, and dedication. We look forward to seeing many of you at future meetings and events!

2. Parent Social Lunch Celebrates Community and Leadership

Following the PSO Community Meeting this past Wednesday morning, around 100 Concordia parents gathered for a lively and heartwarming social lunch at the Kerry Hotel. This gathering was a perfect opportunity to connect, share stories, and strengthen the bonds within our parent community.

During the lunch, we were pleased to celebrate and honor the contributions of former PSO presidents Arlyn and Liqiong. Their dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact on our community, and we are grateful for their service. Though Liqiong was unable to attend due to work commitments, Arlyn’s presence was a highlight, inspiring us with her story of involvement and dedication.

Additionally, the school's Admissions Office introduced Chenhe Wang, the new Community Engagement Manager. Chenhe’s role promises to bring fresh ideas and initiatives to enhance parent engagement and collaboration.

The lunch was filled with joy, laughter, and meaningful conversations, reinforcing the strength of our community. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special event. We look forward to many more moments of connection and celebration together!

3. Grade 9 Parent Gathering

Grade 9 parents took the opportunity to have a gathering at the PSO Community Christmas Lunch on 11 Dec. It was a great opportunity for parents new to Concordia to mingle with old parents. At the same time, parents did not forget to spread the joy of the season by signing Christmas cards to thank all the teachers who teach Grade 9. Thank you parents for your involvement and service to the community this year! Have a great Christmas!

4. SEA parent & parent alumni gathering

South East Asia parents and parent alumni celebrated Christmas early this year, having a Christmas lunch on 6 December. Dressed in Christmas colors complete with christmassy hair accessories, our parents shared our most memorable moments in 2024. The ladies played a game of white elephant gift exchange to promote reusing rather than buying new presents. So much experience from our senior and alumni parents. We hope they’ll continue to have this special community.
