Amanda has three children in College in the states and a sophomore at Concordia this year. She has lived in Zimbabwe, Cambodia and Vietnam. She loves learning about cultures and conversing in different languages. This is her fourth international school in her career abroad as a teacher and counselor.
I'm inspired by "a Mustard Seed"-it's a small seed but if you plant it will grow bigger. Same thing to people; plant a good seed to their heart and later on it will grow bigger.
Original from Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. Margerie graduated with a Bachelor's degree in University of Rizal System. She has many years experience working in different International schools in Shanghai. Margerie's passion is to play badminton and biking every weekend. She's a member of (Filipinos in Shanghai Badminton Association) FILSBA . She's very active member of Helping Ministry of Jesus Christ To God Be The Glory Church - Shanghai.

Gretchen is from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and has a B.A. in Elementary Education with an art certification for grades K-8 from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois, and an M.A. in Reading from the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. She began her teaching career in 1996 in Japan, where she taught English to students ranging from preschool to university. Gretchen received her certification teaching ESL (CELTA) from Cambridge College in Barcelona, Spain. She taught in Texas for four years before joining Concordia in 2007.
Eulalio (Lalo) Aguilar, born and raised in South Texas, moved to Shanghai in 2012 from Corpus Christi. He is a graduate from the University of Notre Dame and Texas A&M University. Eulalio gained 8 years of experience in providing academic and social-emotional guidance to adolescents from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds while employed in the human services field in Texas. He believes in a strength-based, holistic approach to help students achieve the goals they have in mind for themselves and enjoys engaging young adults in the process of positive change. Eulalio enjoys spending time with his family, as well as attending and coaching youth sporting events in Shanghai. He and his wife, Gretchen, have two children.
I chose teaching because no two days are ever the same.
Ashley grew up in Austin, Texas, and graduated with a BA from Baylor University in 2002 and a M.Ed. in Educational Administration in 2016. She is very passionate about early literacy and has taught preschool through grade 2. She holds additional certifications in teaching English Language Learners (ELL) and talented and gifted students and has mentored other teachers in Reading and Writing Workshop. Ashley is joined by her husband, Gaylon, a middle school teacher at Concordia. Ashley also enjoys being a mother to her three young boys, Adrian, Aaron, and Archie. Her hobbies include reading, painting, going to the ballet, and dinners out with family and friends. She feels blessed to be here and working with our fantastic children and families.

From Austin, Texas, Gaylon received his B.B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin. He discovered his passion for travel and world cultures when he studied abroad in Bangkok, Thailand, his sophomore year. This passion has led him to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa and to pursue international business opportunities in both Tianjin and Shanghai, China. While working at National Instruments, Gaylon found his calling to become a teacher while leading a LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Club at a local middle school. Gaylon has taught middle school Social Studies and Teen Leadership in Texas and has attended the summer Reading and Writing Institutes at the Teacher's College at Columbia University. Gaylon's other teaching experience includes coaching Golf and running junior Golf summer camps. He is joined by his wife Ashley and their toddler son Adrian. Besides spending time with his family, Gaylon is passionate about traveling, learning Chinese, lowering his Golf handicap, reading just about anything, and taking better photographs.

Hope, who hails from the Philippines, graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Special Education from West Visayas State University in the Philippines, and later earned her Masters of Education from the University of Iloilo, also in the Phillipines. Hope taught preschool for eight years at Santa Clarita International School in the Philippines, where she was also the Assistant Preschool Coordinator. She joined the Concordia faculty in 2006 and is joined by her husband in Shanghai. Hope also works with Chinese students in private school to pass the STAR Test.
Originally from Pensacola Beach, Florida, Mr. Allen earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Education (K-12) from the University of Southern Mississippi; minoring in psychology and sociology. Soon after, he began his teaching career in central Florida. Subsequently, Mr. Allen earned his Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Program Development & Administration from the National-Louis University at the National College of Education. Mr. Allen has taught at the primary secondary levels for the past 25 years. His concert bands and jazz bands have consistently earned Superior ratings at Florida Bandmasters Association music festivals. Most recently, his middle school band won a Disney Arts Festival Award in 2014 and 2015. In addition, his middle school band was designated a Superior band program by the Florida Department of Education and Florida Schools Music Association. Mr. Allen is finishing a Doctorate Degree in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Allen joined Concordia International School Shanghai in 2015 with a vision to expand the middle school instrumental music program and be recognized as the finest band program in the international school community. Mr. Allen believes that developing musicianship, like sportsmanship, is about citizenship: building character, ethic and responsibility as connected global citizens through study and participation in music.

Janie, a California native, joined the Concordia faculty in the fall of 2013. She holds a B.S. in Interior Design from Woodbury University in Los Angeles, a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University in Irvine, CA, and an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, River Forest, IL. Janie has taught in middle school as well as at the college level, she has also chaired over 20 WASC Accreditation teams in California. Janie has been married to the love of her life, Craig for 36 years and they have three wonderful children and four grandsons. Janie enjoys family camping trips, family celebrations, hiking, biking, and digital scrapbooking.
