This month, we celebrate two values, kindness and gentleness. We’ve been sharing with students the importance of kindness, not only how it benefits others, but how it helps us feel better too.
To truly teach children the value and importance of kindness takes a community. When parents and educators work together, children are able to fully learn the value of kindness, from many role models. Gandhi is credited with the quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Each day, we’re presented with opportunities to share kindness and spread it throughout the community and the world, in the hope that we can create a world that grows in kindness daily.
Scientific studies have shown that kindness benefits each of us, often more than those we help, by releasing “happiness hormones” (serotonin and boosting endorphin levels). Sharing kindness is a complete win-win opportunity.
