It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome our two new music teachers to the elementary school division.
Ms. Martha Seibel is excited to teach elementary music in Shanghai this year! She is from Missouri in the USA, where her parents are also music teachers. Martha has degrees from Kent State University and Concordia University Chicago. Previously, she has taught in the USA and Vietnam. Ms. Seibel loves using games or picture books in her classroom that inspire creativity, encourage teamwork, and further musical growth in each student. She plays the piano and French horn and has performed in many different countries and types of ensembles. Most recently she played for the ballet Swan Lake with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. Besides music, Martha enjoys exploring the world through road trips, hiking, and great food.
Ms. Ilana Shinkle is excited to be joining Concordia International School as an elementary music teacher. She moved to Shanghai from Indianapolis, IN, the US where she taught elementary and middle school, general music classes. Ms. Shinkle holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is passionate about helping students work together to create great music and build confidence in themselves. Outside of school, Ms. Shinkle enjoys playing percussion with many groups including concert bands and orchestras. Her hobbies also include swing dancing, hiking, and playing tennis.
