The world’s funkiest '50s rock musical Little Shop of Horrors is ready to spread its tendrils to the Concordia community!
Geeky florist Seymour thinks he’s got just the ticket for himself and his love, Audrey, to get out of Skid Row via the strange and exotic plant, Audrey II. But The Plant "ain’t no ordinary shrub", it's an ill-tempered, foul mouthed, R&B singing carnivore. An irresistible, madcap adventure Little Shop... is the longest running off-Broadway musical of all time.
Based on the famously low-budget 1960 horror film The Little Shop of Horrors takes place entirely in and around a Skid-Row flower shop. The musical adaptation, featuring music by Menken and a book and lyrics by the late Ashman, premiered Off-Broadway in 1982. A 1986 movie musical adaptation featured Ellen Greene reprising her stage performance as Audrey opposite Rick Moranis. The '60s-pastiche score, described by its writers as "the dark side of Grease," contains such songs as "Skid Row," "Somewhere That's Green," and "Suddenly Seymour."
Book and Lyrics by Howard Ashman. Music by Alan Menken.
