We’re proud to announce that four Concordia students have been recognized in the 2025 ACAMIS Digital Art Competition for their outstanding digital artworks!
This year’s competition invited students to create works inspired by a quote from artist Keith Haring:
“Art should be something that liberates your soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further.”
We had students across all grade levels and genres participate, and it was inspiring to see our community so well-represented.
Concordia Winners of the 2025 ACAMIS Digital Art Competition:
Portrait Category (Grades 1–5):
Carmen W. – In the Imagination
“My art is about a teenager whose imagination is strong. She imagines her feelings as fantasy animals and elements.”
Abstract Category (Grades 1–5):
Jasmine W. – The Girl Who Wanders
“My artwork is about a little girl wandering down the streets. I wanted to express sadness, as you can see with the moon and the tears.”
Portrait Category (Grades 10–12):
Zoe G. – Dimensions of Self
“As an artist, I feel at times that I am both the object and the observer. I examine myself through the lens of my art and dissect myself until every piece carries a part of me. This process of ‘creative destruction’ fragments me, but makes my creation whole.”
Product Category (Grades 10–12):
Jeremy W. – The Flesh of an Architecture
“I was inspired by the structure of a snake skeleton. Its repetitive yet unique design reminded me of architectural patterns.”
Concordia Visual Arts teacher Ms. Vanessa Vanek served as one of the judges alongside four international educators. She was particularly impressed that several Concordia students were selected unanimously as first-choice winners by the panel.
“This means the panelists, without knowing the artists’ identities, all chose our students as top picks. That was amazing to see—it really shows how strong our visual arts program is,” shared Ms. Vanek.
From our younger students like Carmen and Jasmine, who have long nurtured their passion for art, to high school juniors like Zoe and Jeremy, who are already exploring art as a career path, we’re proud of the dedication and creativity shown across all levels.
As we celebrate these talented artists, we also celebrate the power of art to spark imagination, invite reflection, and shape futures. Congratulations to all!
