A Random Act of Quietness

Audio Interview and Image by Mr Lavender, Concordia Applied Journalism

While the very concept of recycling is fantastic there is one slight disincentive. Upon dropping a bit of plastic wrapping into the blue bin, everyone within earshot is treated to a persistently grating "SQUEEEEK-SQUEEEEK-SQUEEEEK" noise as the revolving bin lid finds its way to a stop. If one is tempted to wonder why these bins have gone suddenly silent, the answer has been found.

Mr Lavender leads the Concordia Applied Journalism team and is advisor to Student Media Services.
