Physical Education

Our middle school physical education curriculum is specifically designed to provide developmentally appropriate knowledge and skills that will enable students to achieve and maintain lifelong wellness in the context of sport, fitness and health.

Physical Fitness

Once per quarter, teachers assess student fitness with the

  • mile run
  • pacer test,
  • push ups,
  • sit and reach, and
  • the plank.

By doing this four times a year, students are able to monitor and celebrate their improving personal fitness levels.


Individual and Team Sports

At each grade level, students find opportunities to set personal bests and experience the value and satisfaction of team cooperation.

Grade 5

Grade 5 students practice fundamentals and improve their skills in the following activities.

  • touch rugby
  • soccer
  • softball
  • volleyball
  • bowling
  • dance
  • tumbling
  • rock wall climbing
  • cooperative games

Grade 6

Grade 6 students practice fundamentals and improve their skills in the following activities.

  • basketball
  • flag football
  • hockey
  • table tennis
  • badminton
  • track and field
  • lawn games
  • dance

Grade 7 & 8

Year 1

In year one of the rotating schedule, Grade 7/8 students practice fundamentals and improve their skills in the following activities

  • soccer
  • basketball
  • flag football
  • softball
  • lawn tennis
  • volleyball
  • rock wall climbing
  • ultimate frisbee

Year 2

In year two of the rotating schedule, Grade 7/8 students practice fundamentals and improve their skills in the following activities.

  • team handball
  • lacrosse
  • soccer
  • basketball
  • pickle ball
  • volleyball
  • track and field
  • and dance.
