Benefits & Salary

The benefit packages for Concordia teachers depend on whether a teacher is hired from abroad or hired locally. We have provided detailed information regarding the salary scale and benefits for Overseas Expatriate Faculty and Local Expatriate Faculty.

Housing

Shanghai's International school Salary
The view from the Rittmann Roof-top

Faculty housing is located in a section of Shanghai known as Green City (Jinqiao), within walking distance or a short bike ride from the school. This is a relatively new housing area that is specifically designed to appeal to western tastes with an emphasis on green spaces and family life. Many of our student's families also live in Jinqiao.

All new overseas expatriate faculty members live in apartments appropriate for their family size. Maximum apartment size for a family is a three bedroom unit. The school provides basic appliances and pays the rent; the teacher, in most cases, furnishes the apartment and pays the utilities.

Please note that housing may be in other complexes as well, based upon availability, accommodation of pets, etc. Some single/couple housing comes furnished. If this is the case, it is unlikely that furnishings can be removed from the apartment.

Concordia informs new hires of their housing assignment prior to their arrival in August, typically by the end of June.

Local Expatriate Faculty Benefits

Local expatriate faculty are those already residing in Shanghai holding a foreign passport. Their decision for coming to Shanghai may have been to accompany a spouse or partner who came to work in Shanghai, or any other circumstance that would cause him or her to be in Shanghai prior to the hiring process.

Exception: Teachers who are employed at another international school within Shanghai and are receiving an overseas hire package may receive an overseas contract with Concordia. The teacher’s present employer must verify in writing that the teacher is currently receiving an overseas hire package, as per benefits noted in the overseas hire list of benefits, and acknowledge that the teacher is free to consider a contract with Concordia.

Applications are received throughout the year. Please state you are a local expatriate when sending us your application.
