5/6 Activity Night

Have you ever seen the Amazing Race?

The Student Government is putting on this daring challenge on Dec. 2nd. You will be able to experience the race to the finish. Each team will have to work together to complete their tasks, and each task will be full of surprises, crazy ideas, twists, and things you never imagined. The first team back will win the title of the Amazing Race Champions! (If there is a tie, there will be a Tie Breaker.) Best of all, there is no charge—just bring a snack to share, and you’re IN.

Get your permission slip and sign up for the next activity night using the link below. Hurry! This activity is for 5/6 students only—Sorry 7/8′s.

G7/8 Dance

On Friday, December 2, we are going to have the first dance of the year. It is at 7:00 to 9:00 PM and make sure you bring your own water bottle… unless you like dying from thirst. To get in, you should bring your signed permission slip and either a snack to share or 20 RMB. You can pick up a permission slip from the middle school office.

It is dressy, but not formal (by dressy, we mean don’t just wear a t-shirt and shorts). We will have a wall where you can take a picture with some friends for 10 RMB. Money raised from the entrance fee and pictures will be split between Student Government and charity.

Happy holidays and have fun at the dance!

Card Crafting Success!!!

Congratulations to the members of the Card Crafting Club. These hard working kids worked weekly for a month, and then worked the week before the bazaar every day at lunch and after school. Through their efforts, they helped raise over 4500 RMB for a donation to Bao Bei. Thanks from the babies, and congratulations again on your success.

Boys Varsity Basketball Week in Review

vs. YCIS

  • Coming off a 3 game tournament over the weekend that left the Phoenix seeking redemption, the Phoenix stormed out to well-balanced onslaught of offense (66 points) and defense (43 rebounds). Captain Jack led the pack with 13 points, 6 boards, and added 3 assists, while co-captain Jingwen Lambert finished with 6 points, 4 boards, and 5 assists.

vs. SCIS

  • Wednesday produced another display of TEAM play with 5 members posting at least 5 points or more, and 6 players grabbing 4 or more rebounds for a total of 38 rebounds. Jackie Tong was the spark off the bench adding 10 points, while Anthony Leija ripped down 9 boards, in the lop-sided won.

vs. Dulwich

  • The Friday game exhibited the teams tenacity on defense as they posted 18 steals against Dulwich and grabbed 26 rebounds, adding to a collective offensive shooting effort of 74% from the floor.

Girls Varsity Basketball Weekend in Review

vs. Dulwich

  • The Concordia Varsity Girls improved their record to 5-0 on the season, and 2-0 in SISAC with a hard fought win over the Dulwich Panthers. Playing without an injured Elle Weber, the Phoenix took a quarter to find their stride, dropping behind 10-2 before closing to 12-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Phoenix then stepped up their defensive intensity holding the Panthers to a total of 5 points in the second and third quarters. The girls then put the game away in convincing fashion with a 24-6 run. Cassie Kienle scored a game high 18 points, with Sarah Lynch and Lindsay Maizland scoring 7 each and Sophia Lim, 6. The game turned on two key free throws by Heather Taylor that answered a Dulwich run and started the Phoenix on one of their own to put the  game away. Meggie Wang provided  key rebounding off of the bench, as the Phoenix were dominant on the boards, limiting Dulwich to single scoring opportunities while getting many second-effort baskets on the offensive end.

vs. Melody

  • The Phoenix Girls lost for the first time this season, losing to the Melody Basketball Club, 33-27. Concordia put together a good first half and led by four at the break. But Melody came out strong to open the second half outscoring the Phoenix 14-5. The Phoenix fought hard to the end, but could never get closer than three points in the fourth quarter. Lindsay Maizland led all scorers with 10 points and Heather Taylor added 6.
