Connect. Engage. Refresh. The purpose of holding regular assemblies for the students in each school division is to do just that. In Elementary School, each assembly takes on a unique flavor, as different teams of teachers and their students take the lead each week. Every program may contain activities from singing and dancing to skits and story telling. Middle School students can choose to take an elective class and be part of the student team that runs each monthly assembly. In this class, students research assembly themes, learn to hone public speaking skills, create videos and draft original skits to perform for the community. High school assemblies are designed as a time of quiet reflection. Each Wednesday, Concordia High School students and staff take a moment to gather together and take a break from their busy schedules. Parents are encouraged to actively engage in the community and attend their students’ assemblies!
All School Assemblies
Six times each year, the Concordia community comes together for special, all-school assembly celebrations. There are assemblies at the beginning and end of the year, at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chinese New Year and Easter. Each assembly is organized by and showcases the creativity and talents of students and staff from different school divisions. The all-school assemblies are an exceptional way for the Concordia community to learn about cultures from around the world first hand. For example, at the annual Chinese New Year assembly, two groups of Concordia high school students perform traditional dragon and lion dances (in full costume and after weeks of training!) for the entire community—such an exciting way to engage in the local culture and traditions!
