Elementary School

Singing, playing instruments, moving to and creating music are fun and developmentally appropriate ways that students acquire musical literacy and skills at Concordia. As children explore the variety of music disciplines—performing, creating and responding—they are confidently building foundational music skills. Our Elementary School music curriculum comprehensively integrates Kodaly, Orff and traditional methods of teaching.

General Music is offered to Preschool students once every seven days and twice in the same period for students in Kindergarten through Grade 4.

Grade 2: Beginner Orff Band

This beginning band has students learning to play rhythm instruments, xylophones, glockenspiels, drums and more. Offered during the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Program.

Grades 3-4: Advanced Orff Band (Auditioned ensemble)

Students play rhythm instruments, xylophones, glockenspiels, drums, recorders, pianicas and more. They perform at school events, as well as various venues around Shanghai. Offered during the CCA Program and requires an extended time commitment.

Grades 3-4: Spirit Choir

This beginning choir is for students who love to sing! The new songs learned during rehearsals are shared with parents during the last class gathering. Offered during the CCA Program.
