You can get a lot of brand names here, but they are most often not ‘genuine’ and are very cheap, thus they won’t last long.
You can get things ‘copied’ at the Fabric Market, but again, the quality will not be good as the original.
Sizes of clothing and shoes tend to be VERY SMALL here – a dress size 6 or 8 will be an XL, and will most likely still be a bit snug.
Children’s shoes are one of the more difficult items to find. Crocs, flip flops and the like are everywhere, but good quality tennis shoes, boots or dress shoes can be challenging. The local population is more diminutive than westerners. Therefore women’s and men’s shoes can be more of a challenge. There is the possibility of having shoes custom ordered, but this may not be the first thing you want to tackle when arriving.
Rule of thumb: Bring essentials from home.
