Message from Athletic Director

Home of the Phoenix

Here at Concordia International School Shanghai, our interscholastic athletics program is an integral part of the student experience.

The athletic department at Concordia International School Shanghai seeks to provide an experience of Christian competition that will enable students to develop their athletic skills as they also learn the value of Christian sportsmanship while building relationships with teammates, coaches and with God. Our program builds on the lessons our students learn in the classroom, promoting values from commitment and resilience to selflessness and cooperation. It gives our community a focal point for school spirit and pride, bringing together students, staff, and families to root on our teams. And it allows us to connect with the communities beyond our campus, linking us to our peer schools and showcasing the best that Concordia has to offer.

Our commitment to athletics is reflected in our diverse offerings: We field 66 teams in 30 sports each year. We are part of four conferences that are sports teams compete in. APAC (Asia Pacific Activities Conference), SISAC (Shanghai International School Activities Conference), ACAMIS (Association of China and Mongolia International Schools) and CISSA (China International Schools Sports Association). Each of these conferences provide our students different experiences. Some with travel to countries outside of China, some within China and others just within Shanghai.

All of our student-athletes have access to top-notch on-campus facilities that include four gyms, a FIFA Two Star soccer pitch, an outdoor track, tennis courts, softball and baseball fields, and spaces for our sports medicine and strength and conditioning programs.

It is an honor to be part of a progressive athletics program here at Concordia!

Proud to be Phoenix,

Chris Bishop
