Our Technology Corridor is comprised of several state-of-the-art, knock-your-socks-off facilities that allow our students virtually limitless opportunities to express and communicate ideas.
Video Studio
Built in 2010, our Video Studio includes a raised stage area and curved wall-wall and wall-floor interfaces, all painted “green,” so that our budding videographers can produce full-body green-screen video.
The room is also equipped with 13 individually-controlled lighting units, two HD prosumer cameras on professional tripods, director-to-camera operator intercom system, wireless microphones, and a control booth with a TricasterTM video system. Similar to what you would find in a television or sports newsroom (used by the NBA in the U.S.), the Tricaster enables students to mix video and insert backgrounds and also to broadcast high-quality live video throughout the campus network and YouTubeTM-quality video for the web as well.
Greenroom & Recording Booth
To facilitate student multimedia production, our drop-in green room and 2 audio recording booths were constructed in 2010 in the PC Commons near the PC Cafe.
Computer Workroom
Our 12 years of experience as a one-to-one laptop school has taught us that laptops are just not adequate for some tasks. High-end video production requires processing speed and computer memory that is beyond that available on most laptops. To fill in the gap, Concordia provides a computer workroom adjacent to the Video Studio for the use of Grade 7 through 12 students. While the workroom is primarily for class use; students may also drop-in after school to work on their own.
This learning space is equipped with 8 quad-core, 27″ display Apple iMac computers with necessary software, such as Apple’s Final Cut Pro video editing software.
