Annually, during the last two weeks of school, Grade 9 & 10 students have the opportunity to XPlore. Grade 12 students have graduated. Grade 11 students leave for their Internship experiences and the High School gets the opportunity to refocus. The weather gets very (very) nice. So, how do we keep Grade 9 and 10 students focused, and dare we say, excited about school? XPlorations!
XPlorations give teachers the opportunity to explore something with the students that excites and engages them. At Concordia, we believe in our mission of nurturing the whole child and XPlorations does just that by providing real and unique educational opportunities in a fun and relaxed environment-just when the students need it most. There is great value in learning that transcends the traditional classroom setting.
Each year, students have the chance to explore new and exciting things during their time of XPloration. Some of Concordia’s past XPlorations have included:
- Electronic Publishing
- Robotics / Engineering
- World Scholar’s Cup
- Model Airplanes and Aerodynamics
- ALICE (Video game programming)
- How to referee (Volleyball, Basketball)
- Eco-term (Identifying opportunities for Concordia to “go green”)
- Sculpture (Frieze plaster casting)
- Science Fiction – Study of a genre
- Cooking
- Photography
- Media Literacy
- Ultimate Frisbee
