  • The Reading and Writing Workshop program from the widely acclaimed Teachers College of Columbia University is taught in the Elementary School and Concordia is the first Affiliate School in China.
  • The school’s focus on educating the whole student is not just rhetoric. It was built into the ethos of the school at its inception and continues to be practiced today across the campus and in ways that the expected student learning results (ESLRs) are achieved. The ESLRs are to be a principal centered leader and team members, to be a reflective spiritual being, to be an active global citizen, and to be an insightful learner and effective communicator Holistic educational experience.
  • Concordia’s approach to middle school athletics, drama and other activities is one of participation and inclusion allowing young students to develop their skills in a safe and positive environment.
  • Concordia does not just talk about service. The school provides multiple opportunities for students to grow into servant leaders through Educational Travel opportunities, local service projects, classroom efforts, and field trips.  Student-run charity initiatives are not only welcomed, they are encouraged.
  • Though Concordia is in an urban environment, the focus on improving the outdoor learning experiences of our students was addressed with the Outdoor Learning Project which was implemented summer 2011, allowing students to leverage all of the spaces around the campus for learning and personal growth.
  • Concordia has purpose built facilities with an environmental focus both for sustainability and stewardship.
  • Student-run clubs in Elementary, Middle and High School focus on sustainability and ecology.  Students’ encouraging students to make a difference in their world.
  • Strategic plan initiatives focus on helping students be “green” in their lifestyles through modification of student and broader community behavior to continue to reduce our carbon footprint rather than simply paying after the fact.
